Device and method for aligning an optical fiber

A device (1) and a corresponding method are disclosed, wherein the device is for aligning a first optical fiber (9), the first optical fiber (9) having a first bare end (12), the device comprising at least two alignment elements (3,7) defining a channel having a channel end for receiving the first bare end; an elastic element (2) adapted for opening the channel, against a force exerted by the elastic element, by a force exerted by insertion of the first bare end into the channel at the channel end; wherein the at least two alignment elements are adapted for contacting a portion of the first bare end over three line contacts (30), when the first bare end is inserted in the channel.
