Zusammenfassung: | Preparing polyether carbonate polyol from at least one hydrogen-functional starter substance, at least one alkylene oxide, and carbon dioxide in presence of double metal cyanide (DMC) catalyst, comprises (a) mixing the DMC catalyst with hetero cumulene and hydrogen-functional starter substance under an inert gas, an atmosphere of inert gas and carbon dioxide mixture, or a pure carbon dioxide atmosphere, (b) adding alkylene oxide to the mixture obtained in the step (a), and (c) continuously adding at least one alkylene oxide and carbon dioxide to the mixture obtained in the step (b). Preparing polyether carbonate polyol from at least one hydrogen-functional starter substance, at least one alkylene oxide, and carbon dioxide in presence of double metal cyanide (DMC) catalyst, comprises (a) mixing the DMC catalyst with hetero cumulene and hydrogen-functional starter substance under an inert gas, an atmosphere of inert gas and carbon dioxide mixture, or under a pure carbon dioxide atmosphere, at 90-150[deg] C, (b) adding alkylene oxide to the mixture obtained in the step (a) under an inert gas, an atmosphere of inert gas and carbon dioxide mixture, or a pure carbon dioxide atmosphere, at 100-150[deg] C, and (c) continuously adding at least one alkylene oxide and carbon dioxide to the mixture obtained in the step (b). An independent claim is also included for activating DMC catalyst, comprising (i) mixing the DMC catalyst with hetero cumulene and hydrogen-functional starter substance under inert gas, atmosphere of inert gas-carbon dioxide mixture, or pure carbon dioxide atmosphere, and subsequently (ii) adding alkylene oxide to the mixture obtained in the step (i) under an inert gas, an atmosphere of inert gas-carbon dioxide mixture, or a pure carbon dioxide atmosphere at 90-150[deg] C.
