Zusammenfassung:	A light generating device which may be used as a backlight unit and a display device including the light generating device are discussed. According to an embodiment, the light generating device can include a base layer; light source devices disposed on the base layer and configured to emit light, the light source devices being spaced apart from each other, at least one of the light source devices including a light emitting diode for generating the light; and a light shielding layer covering the light source devices and configured to control an amount of the light being transmitted through the light shielding layer, wherein the light shielding layer includes slits disposed spaced apart from each other.
