Zusammenfassung:The method involves stimulating a longitudinal ultrasonic wave in a rotating shaft (100), receiving an ultrasonic echo signal, and evaluating the ultrasonic echo signal to recognize, whether the rotating shaft has change one, particularly an error such as a crack. One or multiple ultrasonic transducers (200) are provided at a front side of the rotating shaft for stimulation or receiving. The ultrasonic transducer monitors defined angular segment of the shaft. An independent claim is included for a device for monitoring a rotating shaft.
