METHOD FOR ESTABLISHING A CORRESPONDENCE BETWEEN A FIRST DIGITAL IMAGE AND A SECOND DIGITAL IMAGE OF THE SAME SCENE IN ORDER TO OBTAIN DISPARITIES

Process for matching a first digital image (U1) with a second digital image (U2), comprising the following stages: a) select from U1 a block B1(x) of a certain shape centred at a pixel x of U1; b) select from U2 a series of blocks B2(yi) of the same shape as B1(x); c) calculate for each B2(yi) a distance between B2(yi) and B1 (x) as a sum weighted by f(x,z) of a function of the differences between values associated with the colour of the pixels of the same relative position z; d) select the pixel yi that minimises the distance between blocks, establishing a correspondence between pixels x and yi, and giving the disparity of x as the difference yi-x, where f depends on x and z and is a decreasing and non-constant function with respect to the modulus of the directional gradient of U1(x+z) in a certain direction.
