Zusammenfassung:A method for replacing the elevator ropes in an elevator provided with at least a hoisting machine, a traction sheave and a counterweight, in which the elevator car is supported with elevator ropes and which elevator comprises compensating ropes. In connection with the first rope replacement the compensating ropes are converted into the hoisting ropes of the elevator and at least a part of the hoisting ropes are converted into the compensating ropes of the elevator.
