Zusammenfassung:	The fire protection valve (1) has a cylindrical and tubular gas guide element (6), where a closing element (12) is provided for closing an opening (14) of the gas guide element. The closing element is coupled with a thermally reactive, particularly intumescent material (22). The closing element is moved to a closing position by a warming-related expansion of the thermally reactive material. An independent claim is also included for a fire protection insert for insertion of a line section in an inner space of a gas meter.
