Method for starting a dimmer switch

The method involves acquiring, storing and processing current in a natural luminaire load for a period and detecting a minimum operating angle before switching OFF a lamp e.g. LED lamp, if voltage at terminals of a dimmer after processing the current is stable based on preset instability criteria and less than a preset threshold voltage. Another current in the load for the period is acquired, stored and processed after validating the angle. The dimmer is activated in current conduction and interruption modes if the latter current is less than and greater than the former current, respectively.
