Zusammenfassung:	A method is described for monitoring the function of a hydraulic system of a machine, in particular a machine for producing a fibrous material web, such as a paper or cardboard machine. In order to control work fluid pressures, the hydraulic system uses at least one digital-hydraulic regulator (2) which withdraws work fluid stored under pressure from at least one accumulator (33). The hydraulic system is equipped with a supply unit (3) which is activated as required in order to fill the accumulator (33). In the monitoring method, the actual activation frequency and/or activation duration of the supply unit (3) is compared to an expected activation frequency and/or activation duration. If the actual activation frequency and/or activation duration of the supply unit exceeds the expected activation frequency and/or activation duration, it can be concluded that the hydraulic system is defective. A device for performing the method is also described.
