Zusammenfassung:	The present invention relates to the field of enzyme optimization, and in particular to the optimization of lipase enzymes. Specifically, the invention provides a lipase enzyme which has been modified by the incorporation of one or more non-canonical amino acids to give a lipase congener, said lipase congener having an increased enzymatic activity in an aqueous phase compared to the unmodified enzyme. The invention also relates to the use of such lipase congeners in the soap and detergent industry.
