Zusammenfassung:The invention relates to a method for accessing a wireless communications network (100) by a transceiver equipment (10), said transceiver equipment (10) sending a Random Access Channel, RACH, preamble over a Random Access Channel to a base station (110), said method comprising the steps of: Sending (200) from said transceiver equipment (10) to said base station (110) an initial RACH preamble (RACH1) using an initial timing advance value, wherein said initial RACH preamble (RACH1) comprises a first sequence; determining (220) if a successful response (RAR) to said initial RACH preamble (RACH1) is received by the transceiver equipment (10) from the base station (110) within a predetermined waiting interval, if no successful response to said initial RACH preamble (RACH1) is received by the transceiver equipment (10) from the base station (110) within a predetermined waiting interval, sending (200) from said transceiver equipment (10) to said base station (110) at least one further RACH preamble (RACH2, RACH3, ..) using a further timing advance value, wherein said further RACH preamble (RACH2, RACH3, ..) comprises a further sequence, until a successful response (RAR) to one of said further RACH preambles (RACH2, RACH3, ..) is received by the transceiver equipment (10) from the base station (110), wherein said further timing advance value is different from said initial timing advance value. The base station (110) broadcasts cell radius information used by the transceiver equipment (10) for selecting the timing advance valves.
