SATELLITE PAYLOAD WITH AIS

The invention relates to a satellite system integrated into an AIS maritime navigation system on the ground, including: a constellation of moving satellites (4), each satellite (4) comprising a payload (42, 242) that is capable of demodulating each AIS burst received into useful surveillance data, according to a first transmission chain (90, 250), and of retransmitting said useful data back to the ground. The payload (42, 242) includes a second transmission chain (92, 252) that is capable of receiving the same AIS signals as the first chain (90, 250) and capable of retransmitting the received bursts back to the ground without having demodulated same.
