Zusammenfassung:	The present invention relates to an optical recording medium (16) and to an apparatus (1) and a method for reading from the optical recording medium (16). The optical recording medium (16) is provided with one or more polarization rotating films (32, 36). An apparatus for reading from the optical recording medium (16) includes a light source (2) for generating a polarized light beam (3, 6, 7) and one or more variable polarization rotating elements (19, 30), which are located in an optical path of the light beam (3, 6, 7) before the optical recording medium (16) .
