Sealing rings for a labyrinth seal

The ring (8) has a wear protection-ring section (15) formed on a sealing ring frustum (14) and staying in a frictional contact with a stationary running layer of a gas turbine of an aircraft engine, where a local heat treatment is executed in an area of the sealing ring after the formation of the ring section. The ring section comprises wear protection particles (13) that are embedded in a metal matrix (16) e.g. cubic boron nitride, where portion of the particles is larger at an edge and/or a head part of the ring section. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a sealing ring.
