Zusammenfassung:	Diabetes consists of a worldwide public health concern that leads to high levels of morbidity and premature mortality and affects millions of people in countries of any level of development. It is estimated that there are more than 150 million people with diabetes in the world, wherein projections from the World Health Organization (WHO) for 2025 such amount may get to 300 million cases. The present invention refers to a process for obtaining an extract rich in rosmarinic acid (RA) from the plant Origanum vulgare and its use as a possible oral hypoglycemic agent for the treatment of diabetes.
