Method and device for reading reproduced image

A first bar code that is reproduced by linearly polarized red light (first read light) (L1) parallel to a short-side direction and a second bar code that is reproduced by linearly polarized green light (second read light L2) parallel to a long-side direction are recorded on a birefringence label (12). A probe (13) is a reading device that reads the first and second bar codes from the birefringence label (12) and includes first and second light sources (21,22) and an imaging unit (23). The first light source (21) emits the first read light (L1) to the birefringence label. The second light source (22) emits the second read light (L2) to the birefringence label (12) at a time different from that of the first read light. The imaging unit (23) captures the birefringence label (12) through a polarizing plate (36) having a transmission axis aligned with the short-side direction of the birefringence label, and acquires the reproduced images of the first and second bar codes.
