Zusammenfassung:	The electromagnet (1) has an armature (3) provided in a medium-filled armature space (2) in a longitudinally displaceable manner. A magnetic field is generated by a coil winding (10) such that the magnetic field acts on the armature and is moved in the armature space. Electric current flows through the coil winding with respect to the generated magnetic field. The armature includes a penetration opening (30) filled with medium e.g. gas. The penetration opening and/or a closed armature lateral surface penetrate the armature in a longitudinal direction. The medium is selected from a group consisting of air, liquid, oil and water.
