Zusammenfassung:A liquid crystal display apparatus includes a liquid crystal display device, a surface light source placed on the opposite side of the liquid crystal display device to the observation side, and a reflector placed between the liquid crystal display device and the surface light source. The reflector includes a prism array having prism portions formed on one surface of a transparent sheet-like member, and reflects light that has entered from the observation side and has been transmitted through the liquid crystal display device toward the liquid crystal display device by the prism array.
