Zusammenfassung:	The invention relates to a method and a bending device for progressively bending a metal band in the inlet area of a mandrel-less band coiler (3). In order to avoid slippage between the metal band (5) and the driven bending rollers (11, 12, 13), and thus damage to the metal band surface, the circumferential speed of all driven bending rollers (11, 12, 13) is adjusted at each contact line (BL11, BL12, BL13) with the metal band surface to the surface speed (V11, V12, V13) of the metal band (5) at the contact line.
