The holder (100) has a rear part with an end area arranged adjacent to a handle (200) of a brush (10), and another end area arranged adjacent to a brush end (12). The former end area supports a connecting element e.g. circular hook. The latter end area supports a positioning element and a holding element. Regions separate the rear part into four longitudinal sections of equal lengths. The rear part is symmetrical to a longitudinal axis. The holding element is arranged on a center of the axis. The connecting element and the positioning element are arranged symmetrical to the axis. An independent claim is also included for a brush comprising a connecting surface for a bristle holder.
