High voltage electrical cable

The cable (1) has an electrically insulating layer (4), a metal shield (6) and an outer protective sheath (7) successively arranged around a central conductor element (2). An extruded external layer (8) encloses the protective sheath. The extruded external layer is provided in direct contact with the outer sheath. The extruded external layer is obtained from composition comprising 80 parts by weight of apolar polymer for 100 parts by weight of polar polymer in the composition, a flame retarding filler and an electrically conductive filler. The electrically conductive filler is chosen from a group comprising carbon black, graphite, carbon nanotubes, doped inorganic fillers and/or intrinsic conductive polymer powder. An independent claim is also included for a method for measuring electric current in an outer protective sheath of an electric cable.
