The present invention provides a toll-collection device for a motor vehicle with an anti-theft device and a method for operating such a toll-collection device for a motor vehicle. The toll-collection device has a locating device, an anti-theft device, and a transfer device. The locating device is suitable for determining a global position of the motor vehicle and providing global position information depending thereon. The anti-theft device has a first means, a second means and a third means. The first means is suitable for providing the currently provided global position information as reference position information when the motor vehicle is in the off mode. The second means is suitable for comparing the respective currently provided global position information to the provided reference position information in respectively preset time intervals and providing position-changing information depending thereon. The third means is suitable for generating an alarm signal as a function of the off mode of the motor vehicle and the provided position-changing information. The transfer device is also equipped to transfer the generated alarm signal to at least one receiver arranged outside the motor vehicle.
