Zusammenfassung:	The dryer (1) has a fluff separator (21) and a damper (24) rotated against each other such that the separator disconnects an exhaust air duct (13) from a process air duct (2) in a position of a two-part closure mechanism (20). Process air i.e. exhaust air, from a drying chamber (3) is continued to flow through the exhaust air duct. The separator disconnects the recirculation duct from the process air duct such that air from the chamber flows through the recirculation duct after passing through the separator and the exhaust air duct at another position of the mechanism. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a dryer.
