In order to reduce the amount of monitoring data to be transferred in a bus of the laboratory instrument (1) a data reduction is proposed, wherein characteristic data sets (13) are generated from original sensed data of a sensor (11) and transmitted via the bus to the monitoring unit of the instrument control software (5). Optionally data may be reconstructed from the characteristic data sets (13) corresponding approximately to the sensed data of the sensor (11). |
