Dynamic vehicle information management

A method for dynamically managing data changes to a vehicle health monitoring system (VHM) by a datacenter (16) using an external agent (12) is provided. The external agent (12) is operational on, or in communication with, a vehicle. One of updating or modifying a vehicle configuration file (14) is performed to add or delete vehicle information on the vehicle configuration file (14) by the external agent (12). A dummy file (18) is created on a disk (20) by the external agent (12). The dummy file (18) provides a signal to the datacenter (16) that the vehicle information on the vehicle configuration file (14) has changed. The disk (20) is polled periodically by the datacenter (16) to identify a presence of the dummy file (18). Responsive to identifying the presence of the dummy file (18), the configuration file (14) is read into VHM memory by the datacenter (16).
