Zusammenfassung:	Suggested is a process for obtaining Lutein from algae which is characterised in that (a) green algae selected from a group of mutant strains of Chlorella sorokiniana (SAG 211-32) identified by the CCAP deposition references (i) CCAP 211-93, (ii) CCAP 211-94, (iii) CCAP 211-95, and (iv) CCAP 211-96 are cultivated to produce lutein until a desired content of the antioxidant is reached, (b) the algae are harvested and used as a product and/or (c) the content of lutein is separated off from the remaining biomass.
