The brake system has an electric control element (31), by which an anti-jackknife control signal is generated for controlling the anti-jackknifing function such that the braking of the towing vehicle (2) is completely or partially prevented with the help of the brake (6,9), in the response of the anti-jackknife control signal during actuation of the brake pedal unit.
