The coupling mechanism includes pushing devices (25, 27) that are connected with the holders by a pivot bearing and that are movable relative to the holders. The pushing devices include push rods (26, 28) that are movable in a longitudinal direction of the handrail. The holders are coupled with a movement damping device.
