Zusammenfassung:	The device has a display unit for displaying alpha-numeric and/or symbolized information on display panels (4, 5). A processing unit e.g. computer, is formed such that the information are not completely displayed on the display panel (4). An operator control unit adjusts area of the displayed information on the display panel (4), after the selection of the display panels, such that complete information is displayed on the display panel. The processing unit is formed such that format of the information is modified with respect to size of the display panel (4). An independent claim is also included for a method for displaying and selecting alpha-numeric and/or symbolized information in a motor vehicle.
