Zusammenfassung:The method involves arranging a resistive particle sensor in an exhaust tract of an internal-combustion engine. A measured signal change of the sensor is compared with a predicted signal change of the sensor. The measured signal change and/or the predicted signal change are corrected with respect to influencing variables on cross sensitivity of the particle sensor. The measured or the predicted signal change is compared with a given minimum trigger threshold during exceeding of a given current threshold or falling below a given resistance threshold.
