Zusammenfassung:	A particulate filter regeneration system (12) for an internal combustion engine (10) includes a plurality of combustion cylinders (26), an intake manifold (28) and an exhaust manifold (30) . The particulate filter regeneration system (12) includes a particulate filter (14) adapted for communication with the exhaust manifold (30), a flame heater (40) adapted for communication with the intake manifold (28), and a temperature indicator (42) for providing an indication of a temperature associated with the exhaust manifold (30). A controller (44) is coupled with the temperature indicator (42) and the flame heater (40). The controller (44) actuates the flame heater (60) dependent upon a particulate filter regeneration indicator (12) and a signal from the temperature indicator (42) indicating a temperature of less than approximately 300°C.
