The contact surface is aligned to a camshaft assembly (1) before fastening the assembly to a cylinder head on a surface of a tool, which servers as a caliber. The bearing block is arranged between two functional components such as cams (3), a sensor ring (14) and a drive wheel (15) on a camshaft (2), and the contact surface is aligned to a longitudinal axis (5) of the camshaft.
