Zusammenfassung:A method for making N,N'-bis(3-aminopropyl)-1,2-ethylenediamine which comprises reacting acrylonitrile and ethylenediamine in about a 2:1 molar ratio to make a N,N'-bis(cyanoethyl)-1,2-ethylenediamine reaction product and hydrogenating the reaction product, the improvement for improving the selectivity of the reactions to N,N'-bis(2-cyanoethyl)-ethylenediamine and to N,N'-bis(3-aminopropyl)-1,2-ethylenediamine which comprises reacting acrylonitrile and ethylenediamine in the presence of 2-30 wt% water, based on total reactants.
