Zusammenfassung:	The present invention relates to a process for cleaning of a surface comprising treatment of the surface with a composition comprising particles of a chemical agent and with a rinse liquid wherein the chemical agent disperses and/or at least partly dissolves. The chemical agent preferably is a water insoluble salt like CaCO 3 . Any surface that is susceptible to fouling is suitable for the cleaning according to the invention, for instance a membrane surface used in microfiltration, ultrafiltration, nanofiltration or reverse osmosis.
