The present invention further provides for a recombinant nucleic acid molecule comprising a region of a calcium-calmodulin dependent kinase IIalpha ("CaMKIIalpha") promoter operatively linked to a beta-amyloid precursor protein ("APP") gene comprising at least one mutation and uses thereof.
