The invention relates to a bicycle pedal which is mounted on a pedal crank pivotably about a pedal axis, is provided with a reception area and is removably connected to a shoe insertion which is fixable to a shoe and removably connected to a catching element, wherein the connection is carried out by latching the catching element in the reception area oppositely to a spring tension and said connection is released by rotating the catching element, the reception area is embodied or placed in such a way that it is rotationally symmetrical to the pedal axis and consists of two reception elements which are separated from each other oppositely to the force of at least one spring, in particular a pressure spring in the pedal axis direction. In order to substantially ease the centring and positioning of the catching element of the shoe insertion into the pedal reception area, the external sides of two reception parts (15, 5c) are formed, at least on the largest part of the axial length of the pedal (1), by two envelop sections of a cylinder which are separated from each other by a slot forming the reception area.
