Method of assembling multi-layered strips using electromagnetic radiation with a wavelength of 700 - 1200 nm e.g. by laser beam, in which at least one layer is of a plastic material transparent to the radiation and another partially absorbs the radiation energy, consists of welding at least one layer of the assembly to a plastic pre-form support. The support is in the form of a tube of non-oriented plastic, and the radiation absorption material is carbon black.
