Zusammenfassung:	A substantially rectangular insertion opening is formed on the upper surface 22 of the housing 2 of the radiation image reading device 1. An L-shaped projecting portion 25 which runs from the back side periphery to the right side periphery of the insertion opening 23 is integrally formed with the housing 2 and the projecting portion 25 protrudes above the upper surface 22 of the housing 2, and the top surface 26 of the projecting portion 25 is higher than the upper surface 22 of the housing 2. When the cassette 90 is inserted into the insertion opening 23, if the cassette 90 is allowed to come in contact with the side surface of the projecting portion 25, positioning of the cassette 90 at the insertion opening 23 is simpler. As a result, quicker and easier insertion of the cassette 90 into the insertion opening 23 becomes possible.
