Zusammenfassung:The method involves providing a fuel cell (8) that comprises an anode (24) and a cathode (25). Anode waste gas of the fuel cell is conveyed to an exhaust pipe (5), during a portion of cathode waste gas of the fuel cell is guided to a heater (12). An amount of oxidizing agent conveyed to the heater is regulated depends on a signal from a compressor (16), a gas valve (21), an exhaust sensor (29), and a controller (30), for regulating a fuel-air-ratio. The amount of the oxidizing agent conveyed to the heater is increased, when oxygen partial pressure in the exhaust gas falls below a preset value. An independent claim is also included for a heater and fuel cell assembly combination comprising a device for regulating a fuel-air-ratio over an exhaust sensor.
