MACHINE ROOM-LESS ELEVATOR APPARATUS

An elevator apparatus without a machine room capable of reducing an installation space and reducing cost is provided. In the elevator apparatus including an elevator car 4, a counter weight 5, a car guide rail 6, a counter weight guide rail 7, a rope 8 with which the car and the counter weight are suspended, and a traction machine 9 which is disposed at the hoistway top part 3, has a sheave 9a on which the rope 8 is wound and a motor 9b that drives the sheave, and raises and lowers the car and the counter weight, car return wheels 19 and 20 placed at the hoistway top part 3, a car suspension wheel 13 placed at a lower portion of the car 4, a counter weight return wheel 30 placed at the hoistway top part 3, and a counter weight suspension wheel 15 placed at the counter weight 5 are included, the rope 8 is connected at one end to an area in a vicinity of a central portion of the upper portion of the car, is wound on the traction machine sheave 9a via the car return wheels 19 and 20 and the car suspension wheel 13, is caused to hang via the counter weight suspension wheel 15 and the counter weight return wheel 30, and is connected at the other end to an area in a vicinity of a central portion of an upper portion of the counter weight 5.
