Zusammenfassung:	An ink jet printing apparatus includes a configuration in which a liquid for a head (H1001) is supplied to a wiper (M5020) sliding, and abutting, on a face of an ink jet head (H1001), the face being provided with ink ejection openings, and in which the face is cleaned by performing a wiping operation. Although the configuration is simple, such an apparatus maintains performance of supplying the liquid stably and sufficiently under various environments. To this end, the liquid is designed to be held by a holding member (M5100) below a section where the liquid is going to be transferred to the wiper (M5020), and the liquid is designed to thus be supplied, and transferred, to the wiper by drawing up the liquid by a capillary force in a transferring member (5080). This makes it possible to maintain performance of supplying, and transferring, the liquid to the wiper stably and sufficiently under various environments.
