Zusammenfassung:	The foil material has a supporting substrate and a primary machine readable characteristic that is an optical active structure combined with a secondary machine readable characteristic e.g. optical characteristic, electrically conductive characteristic and/or magnetic characteristic, that is in the form of graticule. A miniature unit is formed by a set of graticules that are in the form in one dimensional or two dimensional barcodes. The machine readable characteristic is formed by varying a form, size, color and/or alignment and/or distance of individual miniature units. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a safety unit made of a foil material (2) safety documents, data medium, value documents including a safety unit.
