Zusammenfassung:	An engine has two cylinders (2, 4), each connected to a fresh air intake manifold and a waste gas exhaust manifold. Each of the connections between the cylinders and the manifolds is opened and closed by inlet and exhaust valves (22, 24, 42, 44), respectively, where the valves are controlled by a control device (10). An authorizing device (11) authorizes the opening of a connection of the exhaust manifold and cylinder while filling the cylinder with fresh air, when the instantaneous pressures in the manifolds of the cylinder are in a preset ratio with each other. An independent claim is also included for controlling a supercharged internal combustion engine.
