Zusammenfassung:	The invention relates to a procedure for the preparation of a resin-fortified aqueous polymer resin, characterised in that it comprises the steps of (i) mini-emulsion polymerisation and (ii) emulsion polymerisation. This procedure allows for obtaining fortified aqueous polymer dispersions with enhanced mechanical, physical and colloidal properties. Therefore, the resulting fortified latexes exhibit a high solid content, adequate viscosity with regard to substrate redispersibility and wetting, and other characteristics such as: enhanced gloss, pigment wetting dispersibility, block resistance, improved substrate wetting, outstanding mechanical and shear stability, high freeze/thaw stability, and high polymer volume fraction. These characteristics provide fortified latexes with special advantages for their use in graphic arts and other similar coating applications
