AIR BAG DEVICE

An airbag device comprises an inflator (18) for generating gas, an airbag (40) being expandable by gas generated in the inflator (18), an airbag cover (50) for folding the airbag (40) to house the folded airbag (40) therein and openable at the time of expansion of the airbag (40), a base plate (16) having an opening (16h) at a central portion in which the inflator (18) is fitted, and a cushion plate (22) for clamping and holding the airbag (40) between itself and the base plate (16), wherein the cushion plate (22) has concave parts (22c) on its front face for housing a clamping and holding part of a connection member (28), and a central portion of the airbag cover (50) being opened by tear lines, and at the time of expansion of the airbag (40) is connected to the connection member (28) which is clamped and held by the base plate (16) and the cushion plate (22) together with the airbag (40), and the connection member (28) holds the central portion of the airbag cover (50) at the time of spread of the airbag bag when the airbag (40) is expanded forward by gas from the inflator (18) while getting across the central portion of the airbag cover (50).
