Zusammenfassung:	The method involves equipping an adaptive spacer and speed control, governed by an object detection system (2) which detects the relative velocity of the objects. The lateral misalignment of the detected objects concerns the vehicle longitudinal axis and the speed of the vehicle. From the relative velocity of the objects and the vehicle speed it is determined, whether an object is moved in the same direction as the vehicle. Lateral transverse misalignment of the object concerning the vehicle and longitudinal axis is computed with the number of existing lanes. The motion of vehicle is determined together with the detection range. An independent claim is included for a device for lane recognition and lane allocation for a vehicle.
