Zusammenfassung:	The device for the separating of a conveyed stream of flat objects lying one upon the other in shingle fashion has two conveyor belts (2,3) in series and operated at different speeds. A first means (8,10,12,14) are provided for the lifting of the workpiece (7) from at least one of the conveyor belts of a part of the stream next to the separating point, and additional means (8,9,11,13,15) are provided for the lifting of workpieces from at least one conveyor belt and act upon at least one workpiece in the region of the shingle stream at a distance from the separating point. An independent claim is included for a method for the separating of a continuously transported stream of flat objects in shingle layered fashion.
