Zusammenfassung:	The device has a sensor device (3) receiving mixed-color light and determining brightness values of detected light with two color channels separately and repeatedly during operation. An evaluation and control device evaluates the values and determines pulse-width-modulated electrical signals with a basic period modified to drive the channels so that a color location of the color light lies within a preset region of a standard. Independent claims are also included for the following: (A) a device comprising an illumination device for backlighting a display (B) a method for controlling an illumination device.
