Zusammenfassung:	A system for optimizing power use in a wireless communication device includes a selectively activated first timer which has a first level of power consumption and which generates a first time signal with a first level of accuracy. A selectively activated second timer has a second level of power consumption, less than the first level of power consumption, generates a second time signal with a second level of accuracy less than the first level of accuracy. A selectively activated position determination receiver has a third level of power consumption, and receives signals that permit position determination using the received signals and either the first or the second time signal. A selection processor selectively activates either the first or the second timer for use with the position determination receiver to optimize power consumption of the wireless communication device.
