Zusammenfassung:Methods and compositions are provided for preventing, reducing and reversing ischemic neuronal damage related to congenital and acquired ophthalmologic conditions such as macular degeneration, retinitis pigmentosa, optic neuritis, neuroretinitis, Lebers congenital amaurosis, Stargardts disease, Parkinson's disease, diabetic retinopathy, idiopathic senile vision loss, uveitis, edema and ocular surgery. An amount of an acetylcholine esterase inhibitor containing composition is administered to the eye of a mammal, either topically or via a controlled-release drug delivery system.
